I'd like to see more tradeskilled NCUs, like Accelerated NCU. First off I think Accelerated should get a bump to +20 nanoinit per piece, 6 is pretty insignificant. The only reason I use some now is because Compilers aren't worth anything these days, to players or to shop. They still aren't replacements for the deck items they share traits with, but they don't require the sacrifice of 64 NCU for a bit of bonus.
QL200:
Accelerated NCU Memory (64 NCU + Compiler)
Computer literacy >= 800 and
User Intelligence >= 550
User Modify Nano init 20
User Modify NCU memory 64
Efficient NCU Memory (64 NCU + Hardcore CPU)
This special NCU memory can be used only by those well attuned to the notum flows surrounding Rubi-Ka. By adding advanced CPU circuitry to the NCU the user's understanding of nanobots has been enhanced.
Computer literacy >= 800 and
User Psychic >= 550
User Modify Nano cost modifier -2
User Modify NCU memory 64
Extended NCU Memory (64 NCU + Computer Deck Range Increaser)
A keen awareness of one's environment is required to use this non-standard NCU memory. By replacing nanobot filters inside the NCU chip with those from a standard range increaser, this chip allows nanoprograms to be sent further and faster. However, this unsupported combination voids the NCU chip's warranty!
Computer literacy >= 800 and
User Sense >= 550
User Modify Nano range 10
User Modify NCU memory 64
Stable NCU Memory (64 NCU + NCU Coolant Sink)
This modified NCU requires a sturdy user. Fluctuating filaments inside the NCU chip have been weighted down with coolant components, strengthening the user against interuptions by jarring melee attacks.
Computer literacy >= 800 and
User Stamina >= 550
User Modify Nano interrupt chance 95
User Modify NCU memory 64
EDIT: Well not quite the same as my idea, but we did get useful, fairly easily aquirable NCUs in 17.3 allowing us to customize our decks further without having to raid pandemonium to do it. Good enough.
