No enforcers use range.. the only situation where range could come handy is at the battlefield.. in towerfights and stuff... but using that much IP for just those situations is a BIG ip loss..

Bah, I don't really play enforces (never past lv 20 :P) but I think that if you really want this, It shouldn't matter whether or not you are gimped. You may have to choose to get rid of another part of your tool-set, but if that is fine with you than, by all means play one. Since I think ranged costs 4.0 on all weapon types...I would go with a rifle since it is commonly seen as the best. only max rifle and if at all possible aimed shot, then ranged init. Just remember, you will be much weaker than other enforces at your level.

If I had an unlimited source of IPR (regenerating however slow) I'd probably use an AS weapon, cause we all know there are situations where an AS weapon is obviously going to be of some use.

Weapons are all irrelevant.
Dual wielding beer cans for tanking is the way to go.
Works in AO, and it’s really good in RL too.

As kink said Ranged is not stoopid at all. It is a very good way to do dmg in tower wars with an AS weapon. MA do it why not enf ?
Concerning the IP atm i dual 1HB/1HE without gimping any of my skills so i think a 2HE enfo could easy swap with an AS weapon without wasting his IP since i had to up 1HE/Sneak attack/ Multi melee i think Rifle/AS or Bow/AS can be done pretty easy and Combined Commando could help
Depends how u want to play your enforcer but that would be interresting to see it
It was very viable for pvp before shadowlands came and you could use a caterwaul with spare ip and swap to your eqb/fbr for close quarters pvp pvm stuff.
Not enough spare IP 200+ now though to be viable without gimping a nanoline or evades/treatment/base skills/main weapon skills.
Plus you can't use any of your good melee perks with ranged equiped.
I don't know how much spare IP at 220 enforcer can get, possibly saved from not duel weilding might make enough to hotswap into rifles/bows for AS alphas though.
It's also an extreme pain in the ass finding agents to buff you UA/TTS every half hour to keep the weapon from OE or just sucking all together.
